Are any of you Honies in favor of the occasional no makeup days? If you’re like me, I appreciate these days, but always struggled with feeling like I wasn’t really put together for the day. This was before I met my makeup bag bestie, Tula Face Filter Blurring & Moisturizing Primer. Since we’re already besties, I need to give you the low down so that can you hopefully make this one your new fav too.

This primer is unlike any other in that as the product is pumped out, you instantly see the color change as it’s applied to the face. Within seconds it feels as if any uneven areas are instantly matched with the rest of your skin. If you have any redness (like me) it calms those areas and tames the redness to a more neutral shade. Your face instantly becomes this perfectly neutral canvas to have all your makeup fun on or leaves you feeling a little more confident on your makeupless days. The primer is also completely scentless but packed with tons of probiotics and even chia seeds.

Anytime I use a product under foundation my top two concerns are: if my pores will get clogged or if my foundation will actually grip to it. I’ve been using this product for over a year now and have had no issues with clogged pores. Plus, my foundation stays perfectly in place when used over this primer, which is quite interesting to me because this primer does not cater to being used under makeup in its description. However, I saw Laura Beverlin & Christian Vorderbrueggen both use this product under their makeup- which is what first gave me the idea to use it this way. I can assure you it works just as great under makeup as it does on its own.

The Blurring & Moisturizing Primer comes in a 1 fl oz for $34 or the newer, 2 fl oz size for $54. Although, these price points may seem a bit high for a primer, I promise you they are 100% worth it. Also, there’s always an influencer promo code that can be used when making your purchase. Every time I apply this product I am thrilled with how much of a “filter” like effect my face is given. This product lives up to its name. It’s a Honey, Yasss! Also, Tula has another primer, the Brighten Up Smoothing Primer Gel, that boasts its makeup gripping qualities in its description. I have never tried this, but it’s certainly on my list of future Tula purchases.

Although I love makeup, I have never been a consistent user of a primer under my (what I usually consider to be precious) makeup. I always thought it was one of those extra steps you could skip to save on time and more money spent on yet another product. I think I tried a sub-par one a long time ago and didn’t noticed a difference, so I disregarded the product as a need.

Recently, on a random whim, I ordered the Tatcha Liquid Silk Canvas: Featherweight Protective Primer,  which is a raved about (4.5 star with 1k in majority positive reviews) but pricy product that I found online on this aforementioned whim. I was so excited to try this product because I had started to notice that my make up just wouldn’t last as long; it was creasing, puckering and downright disappearing in some areas. By the time it arrived I was pretty pumped to test it out! I used it a few times and noticed only the tiniest difference. Then I got annoyed that I went against my instincts and spent over $50 on a primer!

The first time I heard about to the Tula Face Filter Blurring & Moisturizing Primer was right after my utter Tatcha disappointment and directly from our very own Honest Honey, Dez. She was definitely a fan and was making me think about putting my hand to the proverbial primer flame once again. So, I bought it. Since the day that it arrived, I have had near perfect, long lasting makeup! It does everything it promises and more, somehow magically evening your skin tone a bit all while moisturizing and getting you ready for makeup application or just some CC cream and mascara.

This is for sure one of my makeup bag forever staples and a major Honey, Yasss for me! Tula has hit it out of the park yet again. Yes, at $54 per bottle it is on the higher end of primer prices but in my opinion so well worth it and puts the comparative products, like the Tatcha primer, to shame!

Hey Honies, as you may know by know, I have a fairly oil-prone complexion, which is a blessing and a curse. Supposedly, having an oilier complexion reduces fine lines and helps ward off wrinkles better than dry skin because the oils help keep your skin moisturized and smooth. But on the other hand, my make up never seems to last long term.

I have tried a few different inexpensive drugstore primers and a few middle of the road options from Sephora. None of them ever really wowed me enough to repurchase though. I had seen some of my fav influencers, including Krista Horton and Karlie Rae Lang, raving about this Tula Face Filter Blurring & Moisturizing Primer I was intrigued but was also apprehensive to order due to the price of $54 for a primer- that’s more than my IT Cosmetics foundation and CC Cream!

I ultimately caved when our Honey, Deziree told PJ and I how much she genuinely loved it! Thankfully, I easily found a promo code and was able to order at a reduced price. As soon as it arrived, I immediately put it to the test. For my first application, I wanted to test out the makeup-free look and see if this really gave the appearance of a “filter” or a blurring effect. In my opinion, it isn’t life changing for me in that regard. My complexion definitely still had a good amount of redness that wasn’t masked by the primer. I did notice a nice “glow” and overall my skin appeared so much brighter and a little bit more even in tone.

As for keeping my makeup in place all day- I think this product really does help but is not a miracle worker. My oily skin still is a stinker in this regard and I find that makeup doesn’t last unless I touch it up a few times throughout the day. However, I have seen a lot of improvement in my makeup longevity since I began using this Tula primer in conjunction with a few other products. My new pre-makeup routine is as follows: Prep skin with Ole Henriksen Balancing Force Oil Control Toner and C-Rush Brightening Gel Crème then move on to the Tula Face Filter Primer, Dr. Jart Cicapair Tiger Grass Color Correcting Treatment (100% eliminates ALL redness), Dr. Brant Pores No More Pore Refiner Primer (literally makes face look poreless) and the Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray (both before and after makeup application). Yes, it’s kind of a long process, so I only do this on special occasions or on days that I’m in front of the camera for y’all!

At the end of the day, I really am a fan of this Tula primer and have already placed another order for my next bottle (thanks Black Friday). Even though this primer may not provide me with the confidence to wear it alone, I still love it and the fact that it is made with clean ingredients, is full of pro/prebiotics and leaves my skin feeling hydrated and glowing. This one is a total Honey, Yasss!
