I have seen and heard about The Ordinary brand a lot! The price points are very reasonable and I think for this reason there has been a lot of talk about their skincare line. I actually decided I wanted to try their products a while back but struggled as I found they were sold out in most of the products I wanted to try. When the Honies and I decided to give them try I was excited to find that The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution was finally available at Sephora, so I ordered it right away!

If you are unfamiliar, peeling solutions are basically acids that help to resurface your skin which makes it very soft and supple. AHA and BHA help to exfoliate dead skin cells, reduces the look of dark spots, and smooths skin texture and complexion. Who doesn’t want that right?

As I began to incorporate the product into my skincare routine I had to account for the fact that I already use another AHA/BHA product which I have written about before, the Wishful Skin Yo Glow Enzyme Scrub. AHA and BHA is too abrasive to be used more than 1-2 times a week, 3 at the most if you have tough skin like me. For this reason, I began to use my Yo Glow just once a week and then incorporated The Ordinary Peeling Solution once a week as well. (It is recommended to use it 2 times per week but as I mentioned I used another similar product that I wasn’t willing to give up).

It is important to note that you should only do these peels or use any acid containing product at night and make sure to use sunblock the next day as they can make your skin very sensitive to the sun. Also, if you have very sensitive skin or are prone to dryness and peeling you should avoid these products all together!

On my first try of the product I noticed the smell of the solution most. I sort of smelled like pomegranates that had kind of gone bad and it was not my favorite. With that aside, the rest of the experience was actually pleasant. It made my skin soft and supple after one use and I definitely had a nice glow. All in all, the product delivered the results I hoped for but I just wasn’t a fan of the smell and texture of it on my skin. I don’t regret buying it, I just know I can get the same results using the Wishful Skin Yo Glow scrub and I tend to like the smell and texture of that product more so for that reason this one is a Honey, Meh for me!

During this pandemic so many of us have learned new skills, languages, built furniture, baked bread, etc. What was my big accomplishment? Aside from getting a black belt in online shopping- I have totally started taking my skincare seriously. When I turned 30 earlier this year, I made a promise to myself to start taking better care of myself (both inside and out) and also to take better care of my skin to help prevent the signs of aging that I was starting to see.

Being a newbie to the skin care game, I was pretty lost and had no idea where to start. One night while perusing Sephora on my phone, I stumbled upon The Ordinary brand and was shocked by the combination of amazingly affordable prices AND so many great/ positive reviews. I thought that this would be the perfect way to start incorporating new products into my routine.

My first order included:

Lactic Acid 10% + HA (Uneven skin tone, Fine lines and wrinkles + Dullness and uneven texture)

Glycolic Acid 7% Toning Solution (Dullness and uneven texture)

Hyaluronic Acid 2% + B5 (Dryness)

Vitamin C Suspension 23% + HA Spheres 2% (Uneven skin tone + Fine lines and wrinkles)

AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution (Blemishes, Fine Lines and Wrinkles + Dullness and Uneven Texture)

I regularly used each and every product diligently and I have to admit, I was pleasantly surprise with how well they all worked for being so affordable. I started to notice less fine lines popping up, smoother skin and more even skin tone. But, my stand out favorite item would definitely have to be the AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution!

This peeling solution leaves my skin so incredibly soft and bright after each use. I try to use it once a week (no more than twice a week) or the night before I have an event or something I just want to look really good for. The bottle will last quite a while too which is great.

I have to say, the quality you get for the price that you pay for any The Ordinary product is completely unmatched. I highly recommend all the products above as a great entry into skin care products if you are just starting a routine. This peeling solution will 100% remain a staple in my personal weekly routine! It’s a Honey, Yasss for me!

I think many of us Honies can agree that a little self pampering is always appreciated. However, between work, family, friends and all of life’s other responsibilities, getting away to have a full spa day is few and far between. This has pushed me to turn to at home self pampering methods, more than ever. My favorites are: a good face mask, face scrub or face peel.

I don’t discriminate when it comes to these products because I do believe there’s a lot of great products on the market, just depending on your needs, wants and budget. I had seen The Ordinary AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution from a few various celebrities in the past and I was always intrigued, mostly because of its vibrant red color. It wasn’t until about two months ago when our Honey, Tayler, gave me her recommendation on this solution that I decided to purchase it.

The Peeling Solution is described as an exfoliating facial that is to be applied to clean, dry skin only. It can be used on essentially all skin types: normal, combination and oily. However, regardless of skin type, it’s made very clear that this product is to only be left on the skin for 10 minutes. I want to emphasize the importance of thoroughly removing the solution from your face after no more than 10 minutes. The second time I used this Peeling Solution I failed to carefully remove the product from a small portion of my face. At around the 17-minute mark I instantly felt this burning sensation on that side of my face. Even after washing for the second time, the side where the product was accidently left on was extremely red for the next hour or so. It went back to normal, but I’m hoping my accident can help prevent you from experiencing the same issue.

The results of this solution claim to help remove blemishes and assist with skin texture and radiance. In my experience, I found that if I followed the steps exactly as described on the bottle, my skin feels incredibly soft and appears to be less dull immediately. Yet, after multiple uses, I have noticed that the instant softness doesn’t last for very long. I get maybe a full 24 hours with that extremely soft skin and then it feels as if there’s an immediate shift in my skin. However, at the $7.20 price point, even if the ideal skin texture is short-lived this product is still a Honey, Yasss for me.
