OLEHENRIKSEN BANANA BRIGHT EYE CREME

TAYLER:

After having my daughter last year, let’s just say a full and restful night’s sleep has become a distant memory. Unfortunately, my skin was among the many things in my life that have been effected by this change. I have definitely noticed more imperfections, redness, fine lines, crows feet and even darkening under my eyes. No thanks!
A few months ago, I was still on my quest to find great under eye care as this was the most noticeable area that has taken a hit over the last sleep deprived year. I had heard of Ole Henriksen and used a sample of one of their moisturizers before and remembered that I had liked it a lot. They happened to have a big sale so I purchased a few different value sets including Power Juice Skincare Set, Balance Babies Mattifying Oil Control Set, and Let’s Get Luminous Brightening Vitamin C Essentials Set.
Today, we are talking about a product that can be found in the Let’s Get Luminous set- the Banana Bright Eye Crème. It claims to correct dark undereye circles, color correct, brighten/ illuminate, eliminate crows feet, improve hydration AND improve concealer wear. Influencers have raved about this stuff and so this was definitely something that was on my radar. Needless to say, I was very excited to start using this. I began implementing the crème into my daily am and pm routines religiously. After about two weeks, I began to notice the product was slightly separating in it’s pot. I constantly found myself having to mix it back in a little bit of oil back into the crème. About a month ago, I purchased a mini cosmetics fridge and have since been keeping my crème in there which seems to help a bit.
When it comes down to this product’s impact on my undereye area and taking into account all it’s hefty claims, I’m not 100% sure that it lives up to the hype. While I do think that it does provide nice hydration, I don’t see much of a difference in terms of reducing darkness, fine lines or extended concealer wear. I realllllly wanted to love this one since I am now a huge Ole Henriksen fan after trying out many of their other products but unfortunately, it’s just a Meh, for me.
DEZ:

As of late, finding products that can assist with covering undereye circles and targeting fine lines has been more of a priority to me, not only in my skincare routine, but also my makeup routine as well. I’m sure as many of us Honies are aware, there are so many products on the market that claim to assist with these issues, in both skincare and makeup formulas but do they really work?
When I first heard of the Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Eye Crème, I was definitely intrigued. It’s essentially an eye crème that is to be used before makeup application, yet it’s packed with Vitamin C. It’s designed to target those fine lines and help diminish the appearance of dark circles. Yes, please!
The first couple of times I used this product I used entirely way too much causing my concealer to have a greasy/wet feel to it. It was completely uncomfortable to me that I couldn’t even asses if the product was doing what it claimed. I was so close to chalking this product up to a Honey, No, but after expressing my issues to our Honey, PJ, I was advised to use less product and see if that helps changes anything. Thankfully, I listened. I was able to finally master using just the right amount of product to avoid the greasy effect. This allowed me to finally analyze the product’s true capabilities.
While I do think this eye crème indeed does help neutralize dark undereye circles, I don’t think it helps much with eliminating the fine lines. Since both factors are equally important to me this product is unfortunately Just Meh for me. However, I will continue to use this product, especially on days where the circles need some extra TLC and concealer just isn’t going to cut it.
PJ:

WOW! WOW! WOW! That is how I feel about this week’s review. For as long as I can remember, I have struggled with dark under eye circles. This is fairly common struggle for Middle Eastern girls with olive skin tones like me. I used to just focus on finding the best makeup to cover it. A good concealer, a baking powder that sets smooth and resists flash back and setting spray to make sure it all lasts.
Then while on a wild hunt at Sephora to find a new concealer to hide my ever growing bags, an employee led me to the Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Eye Crème and told me I need to try to help fix the issue vs. just cover it. What a concept, right? Up until this point, I was convinced nothing could actually help correct the issue. So, I took a leap of faith and bought the cream.
Now, almost a year later of using it, I can definitely say it is one of the most effective products I have ever used. I use it and night and in the am under my makeup everyday and it has helped brighten and hydrate the delicate skin under my eyes so much. This one is a must have and a Honey, YASSS! It is the real deal!
