MODERE

Today I want to talk about something that most post partum mama’s (and a ton of women in general) experience- hair loss. It’s not something anyone really wants to go through, talk about or embrace but it happens to so many in some form or another. For me, I began noticing my hair thinning around my hairline and at my temples about 4.5 months after I delivered my baby girl (about 2 months after stopping breast feeding).
Why does postpartum hair loss occur? Technically this is not actual “hair loss” but instead is extreme “hair shedding”. When pregnant, women’s hormone levels, (more specifically estrogen and androgen), rise and cause hair to remain in the hair growth cycle longer than usual. This is what causes many pregnant mama’s to have the appearance of longer, fuller, thicker hair. Once baby has been delivered though, our hormone levels significantly drop resulting in more hair falling out in shorter amount of time (not to mention all the other wild side effects that happen during this period), and making many new moms feel stressed or maybe even insecure about their new hairline.
While my PP hair loss was not as significant as many others, it still bothered me, so I wanted to do something about it. I started taking Vital Protein supplements and collagen powders in hopes that their claims to aid in hair, skin and nails benefits were true. After 3 months of daily use, I noticed no significant changes in any of these categories.
Still feeling frustrated by my thinning hair, I happened to see Ashlee Nichols post in her Instagram stories about her PP hair loss journey. She shared photos of her hair thinning in the same spots as mine and then showed her hairline after only a few months of taking a collagen supplement from a brand I had never heard of, Modere.
I was so impressed (and slightly envious) of Ashlee’s results, so of course I swiped up on her affiliate link and was taken to the product’s website. This miracle product is called Liquid BioCell Life (part of Modere’s collagen sciences line). It is a liquid collagen supplement that is taken orally twice a day. I have to mention that Liquid BioCell may cause sticker shock for some, or at least it did in my case. A 450ml bottle (about a month’s supply) costs $69.99/ 1 bottle. While that’s not totally out of line with market prices for other luxury collagen supplements, it is more than I would typically spend on this type of item.
After seeing two of my favorite influencers, Katy Roach and Alexa Anglin, also raving about Modere helping them with their PP hair loss too, I decided to bite the bullet and order my first bottle of Liquid BioCell Life. (I have to mention that I did find a $10 off promo code for first time customers which made me feel a little better about my purchase). Less than a week later, my Liquid BioCell arrived and I began using immediately. Since the product is a liquid that is taken orally I was nervous it would taste like vitamins or cough syrup. Much to my surprise, it tasted great (kind of like apple juice).
Over the next month, I took my collagen diligently (1 tablespoon AM and 1 tablespoon PM). I had told myself that I would only give this product a month to prove itself and if I saw no changes, I would not repurchase it. About 2.5/ 3 weeks in, I was hooked. Not only was I starting to see some baby hairs sprouting up along my hairline, I also noticed my nails were so much stronger (I have fairly thin/ brittle nails), my eyelashes looked thicker and longer and my body just felt better overall.
Needless to say, I have become a Modere fan for sure. The results I achieved for my thinning hair were exactly what I was hoping for. The joint health benefits also have me hooked, especially now that I am constantly running around after my 1 year old. I have recommended to several friends and family members that have also loved their results just as much. Please see my very real and raw photo gallery below for my results! Like me, you may be asking; Why is Modere Liquid BioCell collagen different than the others?
*Disclaimer: I am NOT a doctor nor am I highly educated in regards to health or wellness. The following is merely what I found while conducting my own research before trying this supplement out. The information below is credited to Modere.com:
“Liquid BioCell is the new generation of collagen, redefining the way we age and how we perform. Every product is formulated with our exclusive Collagen/HA Matrix Technology to support joint and muscle fitness and connective tissue health, counteract skin photoaging, restore youthful skin, and support healthy hair, nails, gums and eyes.”
Unlike other ingredients, Liquid BioCell offers a patented matrix of hydrolyzed collagen type II, hyaluronic acid (HA) and chondroitin sulfate, and its patented manufacturing process produces ideal molecular weight that the body can effectively absorb. Liquid BioCell mirrors the joint’s natural composition, which is another reason why the body readily accepts it.
Hyaluronic acid not only helps keep the cartilage that cushions joints strong and flexible, but also helps increase supplies of joint-lubrication synovial fluid.
A human bioavailabilty study showed that within 28 days of daily intake of BioCell led to a 60-fold increase of HA in the body. In 8 weeks subjects with joint discomfort experienced improvement and with prolonged use, experienced “significant mobility” and reduced stiffness and soreness vs the placebo group.
Clinical trials show that Liquid BioCell counteracts skin’s natural aging and photoaging from the inside out. Trials suggest it may reduce deep wrinkles and lines, eliminates dryness, increase skin’s collagen content and improves skin’s microcirculation, hydration and skin tone.
Many creams, lotions and serums are unable to penetrate the skin’s surface (epidermis) in order to reach the dermis where rebuilding actually occurs. A study demonstrated that in 28 days of daily intake of Liquid BioCell let to a 60-fold increase of HA in the body, decreasing wrinkles from the inside out. In regard to skin aging, hyaluronic acid is essential for hydration and bringing elasticity and firmness back to the skin. In 6-12 weeks, subjects also reported almost zero dryness or scaling of the skin and improvement of overall skin tone.”
