ELEMIS PRO-COLLAGEN CLEANSING BALM

TAYLER:

After a long day, the last thing I feel like doing is washing my face. But I know it’s crucial to maintaining a healthy and balanced complexion. This year I have been loving double cleansing. First, I use a makeup removing balm followed by my regular cleanser. I find that using a balm first, really helps break everything down and makes removing my makeup a breeze.
I already have my all-time favorite makeup vanishing balm, but we happened to find a great deal on a very popular (usually pricey) brand and decided to purchase the Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm. There were two options The Classic or Rose Cleansing Balm. I of course quickly chose the Classic as I very much dislike anything rose scented. Unfortunately, even the Classic had an overwhelmingly strong rose/ floral. The smell was so powerful that I was only able to use it twice before returning. Even the girl at ULTA said she had several people recently return it for the same reason.
As Dez mentions in her review below, Elemis now has a fragrance free option that may be a better option for those who are scent-sensitive like me. I will say, the two times I used the balm it worked nicely but nothing different than my usual makeup removing balm so I see no need to switch. This one is hard for me to rate because I literally couldn’t use the product long-term but taking that and the price into consideration, I feel like I’m going to say it’s just meh really bordering on a Honey, no. I just know there are other products on the market that do the exact same thing for less so I believe this one is just overhyped.
DEZ:

Makeup is all fun and games, until it’s time to take it off. Am I right Honies? I know we all have our own methods to this madness, but as of a few months ago I’ve really been loving using a cleansing balm to help melt away my makeup before I get to the cleansing step.
I’ve tried a few brands of cleansing balms but decided to snag the Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm when it was 50% on Ulta’s 21-Days of Beauty sale. The Elemis Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm is a whopping $64 for the 100g size, so getting this at $32 was a steal. The Elemis Cleansing Balm does a great job at thoroughly melting your makeup, including eye makeup, prior to cleansing. It makes cleansing and any exfoliating a breeze, as there’s virtually no traces of makeup residue.
Although, I’ve heard a lot about the scent of the original Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm being terrible to some; the smell actually doesn’t bother me. There’s a very light floral scent and usually I’m not into the floral scents, so this one is mild in my opinion. However, if you’re concerned about the floral scent being bothersome with the original Pro-Collagen Cleansing Balm, there are now multiple options to choose from: Pro-Collagen Naked Cleansing Balm (Fragrance-Free), Pro-Collagen Neroli Cleansing Balm, Pro-Collagen Water Mint Cleansing Balm & Pro-Collagen Rose Cleansing Balm. (Hello Pro-Collagen Water Mint Cleansing Balm! I’m coming for you next.)
When I take off makeup without this cleansing balm, even after double cleansing I tend to feel like my face is lacking a sense of cleanliness. I never feel this way when using the cleaning balm as my first step in my skincare routine, so this is one of top picks these days. Honey, Yesss! Honestly, the only down side is the cost, but I will continue to look out for promos, so I can snag more at a better price. However, if you’re interested in trying the cleansing balm and don’t want to commit to the large 100g size, you can grab the 20g for $14. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
